| Description | Integration with the local community is essential for the creation of the feeling of home and belonging to a new place of residence. If such a community cannot be provided by the locals because of the language barrier, for the possibility to create a “feeling-of-home,” it is needed to find a local community without this language barrier. Ethnic and religious communities can play this role and thus can function as mediators of home with necessary affective ties. Our presentation showed how Brno expatriates coped with the situation of resettlement and home-making in a new place with the help of religious communities, as well as other strategies connected to religion/non-religion. |
