Description The study deals with the genre of travelogue at the end of the 19th century, which, through mutual learning, influenced the formation of Czech-Slovak relations. The author examined the travelogue of Rudolf Pokorný From Travels across Slovakia I and II (1884, 1885), more specifically, the chapter Orava. Based on the writer, Rudolf Pokorný, the region is partially isolated but is dominated by an internal diversity, which is reflected in ethnology, lifestyle and language. Significant differences are in the lifestyle of the people from the village versus the city. He is also stereotypically depicting the Orava nature, and yet, he does not focus on portraying the social aspect. He creates an image of natural Orava, full of folklore, thus creating a picture of Orava as an interesting geographical region.
