Citation
Description The traditional omniscient narrator has all but disappeared with the postmodern age. Yet, not all tools of omniscience have been completely banished from contemporary writing. The chapter traces in what guises the omniscient narrative voice re-emerges in the work of Ali Smith and Kate Atkinson. It is argued that their kind of omniscient narrative helps to augment the frames of reference within which human experience can be explored.
