Description | We look at numerals in mathematical statements such as "one plus one is two" and object counting numerals such as "two dogs." Comparing the morphological shapes of the two types of numerals, we classify the morphological patterns into asymmetric, symmetric, inverse and idiosyncratic. We show how the patterns are derived as a function of a universal underlying structure of numerals and language particular lexical items. |
