Description In 2020, we commemorate the significant anniversaries of the three saints connected with the Brno diocese. It has been 800 years since in Křižanov St. Zdislava was born (ca. 1220-1252), the patroness of families, who excelled in love and charity. As well, it has been 400 years since the martyrdom of St. Jan Sarkander (1576-1620). This humble priest, self-sacrificing missionary, and zealous preacher was martyred in a cruel manner for the truth and keeping the seal of confession. He received priestly ordination in the St. Peter and Paul collegiate church on the Petrov hill. The third commemorated saint is St. Clement Mary Hofbauer CSsR (1751-1820), originally from Tasovice near Znojmo. He joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer and served in Warsaw and Vienna. He founded schools and cared for the sick and orphans. At the Congress of Vienna in 1815, he made a significant impact on the church questions as well. The exhibition reflects the life and spiritual heritage of these outstanding personalities and presents works of art as expression of reverence and admiration for their holy lives.
