Description The Roman army was undoubtedly one of the most effective armies in the ancient world. Remarkably strong organization and sense of innovation and improvement unprecedented in era were the bases for its success. These aspects were significantly reflected in the equipment and armament of legionnaires. Weapons, equipment and so-called military fashion has undergone various changes throughout the history of the Roman Empire, reflecting current combat practice and often elements of the enemy's equipment, as long as they have proved to be practical. Strong traditionalism, typical of the republican era, began to recede during the Empire period, and changes in the army therefore gained unprecedented momentum. This article describes the form of weapons, equipment and military fashion of legionnaires in the imperial period, specifically in the second half of the 2nd century AD. Based on historical and archaeological sources, the form of the Roman legionary, weapons, armour and clothing are briefly and clearly documented.
