Description | The author of the present article summarizes the character of the Brno linguistic Russian and Slavonic studies, above all, the personalities of Roman Mrázek and Stanislav Žaža and their relations to philology as such, especially to belles lettres. He synthetizes the conclusions of two thematic blocs he recently organized for the Bratislava journal Philologia which concerned „new philology“ and the connection of the terminology and methodology of literary criticosm. The participants of both blocs, literary critics and linguists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, and Russia investigated the problems of new philological unity or „new philology“ from different angles, not only philological, but also from the points of view of social sciencies and religion. (A. Korablev). There were specialists of Czech, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian and German studies, historians an theorists of literature and general linguists. A specific attention is also paid to the problem of terminology, and the author demonstrates them at the example of his own terms. On the basis of critical comparison he comes to the conclusion that the birth of new philological entity will be a gradual, soft, long process, rather a specific merging than the sudden origination of a new discipline if there will be a demand for it and if it will be sufficiently functional. |
