| Description | The new Latin-Czech edition of Comenius's "Writings on the First Philosophy" (2017) represents a significant contribution to the metaphysical discussion associated with the reconstruction, reception and actualisation of the metaphysical thinking of Jan Amos Komenský. The success of such metaphysical ressourcement depends primarily on finding adequate philosophical mediation of Comenius' metaphysics within one of the current philosophical approaches. A comparison of Patočka's phenomenological approach and Schadel's ontic-realistic approach shows that the key problem of such contemporary mediation is the explicitly Trinitarian foundation of Comenius's metaphysics. Without a new reflection on the relationship between philosophy and theology in connection with the discussion of the so-called Trinitarian ontology, or Trinitarian metaphysics, it is not possible to formulate a final evaluation of the significance of Comenius's metaphysical thinking. |
