Description | The book presents an overview of the most important Czech women philosophers and scientists, focusing on the context of their lives and work. The first part of the book (Outline) presents a chronological overview exploring the broad range of the philosophical and scientific interests of Czech women from the early period to 1989, the year of the ‘Velvet Revolution’ that marked the end of socialist Czechoslovakia. The second part of the book (Surveys) consists of six studies devoted to selected themes of the history of Czech women philosophers. The last part (Sources) introduces as yet unpublished documents that complete the chronological outline. The correspondence between Albína Dratvová and Czech psychologist Robert Konečný is followed by extracts of two dissertations in philosophy presented by Czech women (Emílie Veselá and Marie Hurdová) in the interwar period. |
