| Description | The lecture presents an important, as yet underappreciated Brno architect Jaroslav Šmídek (1923-2005). Šmídek's elegant, practical furniture from the time of his work in the Brno Furniture Development industry (Vývoj nábytkářského průmyslu, VNP) is valued especially for design innovations and as an inspirational model. Some models are, thanks to the so-called retro style, still popular today. The lecture follows Šmídek's most important designs in the field of upholstery seating, cabinet and kitchen sector furniture, designed for industry, in the context of the development of furniture in Czechoslovakia after 1945. |
