Description | The art-historical study focuses on the creation of wooden objects by Magdalena Jetelová, who has been directly involved in shaping new forms of world sculpture since the mid-1980s. The genesis of the central motif of the chair in her work was influenced by the radical Arte Povera movement. In the late 1970s, Clover began working on a series of works based on everyday objects such as chairs, tables, cabinets, stairs, linens, etc. She created familiar objects based on the real world from roughly worked wood in sturdy forms and larger-than-life scale, purposefully working with elements of absurdity, paradox and transformation of an object stripped of its original purpose. She continued to develop the motif of the chair after she left for Germany. However, as the context changed, so did her artistic means and the motif shifted to the level of broader semantic and environmental projects. |
