Description The paper presents the results of the analysis of one part of the data from the qualitative phase of the GAČR project No. 18-15451S entitled Non-traditional students studying for pedagogical degrees in tertiary education in the Czech Republic. Specifically, it is a deepening of the analysis of one subset (unsuccessful non-traditional students), while the paper brings the first results of it. In the background of the European higher education system, the drop-out is perceived negatively by institutions and governments as it has an economic cost (Merill, 2015). Within this context, student drop-out is often viewed as an individual failure rather than an institutional one (Quinn et al., 2005). The research tool was biographical interviews and to deepen the analysis, the author performed a narrative analysis. The aim of the paper is to present an andragogical view of drop-outs from formal education through the results of analyzes of narratives of adult students with previous unsuccessful university experience.
