Description The book describes the life of the Benedictine community in the Abbey of St. Peter and Paul in Rajhrad, located near Brno in southern Moravia, in the decade of the abbey jurisdiction of Alois Josef Kotyza. It brings biographical profiles of the individual monks (conventuals with eternal vows and novices). It depicts the abbot's personality. Relationships within the religious community and its functioning are confronted with the text of the Rule of St. Benedict. Attention is paid to the economic problems of the monastery and to the external political circumstances of the war period. The role of the monastery in the formation of the Slavic Benedictine Congregation of St. Adalbert is explained. The book concludes with a description of extraordinary events in the life of the Rajhrad religious community - public church festivities.
