Description The topic of German phenomenon in Czech literature in the 2nd half of the 20th century often worked with the motifs of war, death, physical and spiritual suffering, sacrifice, and destroyed love. The authors rarely attempted to break through the stereotypical view of the Germans as representatives of a barbaric culture. Through a series of three examples, this paper presents various ways of non-schematic digestion of German phenomenon in the translation works of Josef Hora, in the lyrical works of Egon Bondy, as well as the prose works of Jiří Kratochvil.
