| Description | The article provides a pharmacological overview of mucoactive drugs in connection with their use in acute and chronic airway inflammation. The use of mucolytics in chronic inflammatory diseases of the respiratory system appears to be safe and provides a clear, albeit moderate benefit. In connection with the current epidemiological situation, the use of mucolytics in acute respiratory diseases, especially COVID19, is more emphasized. Few drugs have been shown in vitro, or in silico some potential to inhibit SARSCoV2 entry and replication, however, reliable clinical data are not available so far. |
