Description Two singular men, two very different existential experiences, two quite distinct writings, yet certain themes, or rather places allow the two writers to be put side by side. Cinema, Lorraine, and, ultimately, prison. As if these three spaces were linked, because it is in the prison in Lorraine that they will find material, fully prison, which will give rise to the book and the film. The issue of this paper could be defined as an attempt to provide elements of an answer to the question of knowing how this writing at the end of the 20th-century proceeds, which aims to capture the experience of prison? Can we speak of an aestheticization, or even poetization, of the prison environment in the manner of a traditional novel? How to “represent marginalized beings or / AND lost to follow-up”? How to frame and not judge?
