Description For many centuries, furs have been an important export commodity for the Kingdom of Hungary. Kosice is the largest fur trade center of this medieval country. The predominant part of the goods moved along the main transit route from the Baltic offices to Lubeck and Bruges. The example of Kosice, which has not yet been studied in detail in Russian historiography, represents the typical fate of the cities of central Europe, which in a short period received many privileges and rights and began to develop rapidly thanks to royal sympathies. The rapid rise was followed by the same rapid decline, when at the end of the 15th century the interest of the rulers switched to Buda. The study of Kosice and their role in the export of furs also reminds that despite the dominant position of Novgorod, this type of product was exported from many other regions.
