Description | Without theoretical ambition, Grammar-Grimoire of French allows an original comprehension of the major work of Lucien Tesniere: Elements of Structural Syntax (1959). If the theory of verbal valence has been directly imported since chemistry syntax, in his introduction Christophe Cusimano introduces instead Lucien Tesniere in the guise of a chemist interested in grammar. This handbook then presents from a didactic and playful point of view the main principles of the structural syntax of Lucien Tesniere. Christophe Cusimano relies in particular on the notion of translation in his paradigmatic presentation of the parts of speech and syntactic structures. This work is illustrated with many graphical representations: if Tesniere used to use the stemmas, the author has choosen to add syntactic trees as for comparison. The handbook also includes exercises that can help students in discovering Tesniere's syntax. |
