Description The study describes the Czech present participle, i.e. the type of kouř-í-c, nes-ou-c (verbs without inflectional agreement) and the type of kouř-í-c-í-, nes-ou-c-í- (verbs with adjective inflectional agreement). Both forms share a verbal portion of their internal structure, and the verbal syntactic properties are derived from it. The distribution and the inflection of the forms are controlled by the syntactic structure which they occur in. The author shows the syntactic properties of the forms kouř-í-c-í-, nes-ou-c-í-, which have the feature [adjective] and the feature [noun].
