Description The phenomenon of the mask appears across cultures in conjunction with rituals that self-de?ne the community and the individuals within it. However, there must be a unifying factor behind the multiplicity of cultural forms of the mask. After all, whenever we encounter a mask, we can identify it as a mask without hesitation. Revealing and covering, then, are related to self-expression and self-understanding: "a mask can conceal what the face reveals, but it can also reveal what the face conceals". However, something other than objects can also be considered as a mask. An "imaginary mask" can hide a mental or psychological state of mind. In a figurative sense, a mask can also become a state of mind. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
