Description Specificities of local knowledge of music is, in the context of the global study of musical cultures, a very actual question. Today, music-theoretical concepts from areas that did not receive sufficient attention in the past come to the forefront of researchers' interest. An example is the music-theoretical heritage of non-European areas, often localities with a colonial past, questioning one's own identity and originality in relation to indigenous culture. From a European perspective, it arrives a new evaluation of the theories developed in the territories with a socialist history, whose intellectual climate have long been out of the field of Western research. Czech, and therefore Czechoslovak, music theory is thus looking for its place on the newly understood map of Europe in a globalized context. The paper will try to evaluate the changes, benefits and usability of the concept of Central Europe in musicological research on the example of selected Czech music-theoretical concepts and trends.
