Description | The paper deals with the analysis of the categories of tense and aspect in Czech and Italian in a comparative perspective. Specifically, these elements are observed through a corpus of narrative texts written by Czech and Slovak learners of Italian as L2. Considering the occurrences and the procedures of interference, the results show that learners use the structures belonging to their L1, based on perfectiveness and imperfectiveness and on a reduced reference to simple and complex deixis. Actually, Czech language considers the action expressed by verbs in accordance with its conclusion (perfectivity) or its progression and iterativity (imperfectivity), determining a disadvantage to the development of tense inflection. Data prove the abuse of imperfetto and passato prossimo and the unsuccessful management of the tense consistency in contexts of complex subordination. For Slav learners the prominent trait is the duration and not the deictic connection to a specific moment of the action. This seems to be the area where the level of interference of the L1 on the Italian verbal system is stronger. In an educational perspective, the reference to temporal deixis and to textual complexity could be helpful to acquire the morpho-syntactic principles and the semantic motivations of the Italian verbal categories. |
