| Description | The present text deals with the national minority of Transylvanian Saxons in Romania. Based on repeated field visits, it describes and analyzes the problems associated with the reconstruction of the community's ethnic identity. At the forefront of interest is the issue of social conditionality of memory. Methodologically, the work adheres to the tradition of ethnographic research. It builds on theoretical concepts of ethnicity (Eriksen, Anderson) and memory studies (Halbwachs, Assmann, Nora). |
