| Description | Finds of Roman military items have long been a subject of interest to archeologists exploring the Roman era – both in and outside the former Roman provinces. Although the range of material in this category is now substantially larger than was previously the case (due to archeological rescue surveys and cooperation with informed members of the public), some examples of the category have still not yet undergone comprehensive expert assessment. The aim of this text is to present a Roman helmet forming part of the collections of the Opočno chateau and to situate the item within its chronological context. |
