Description | The global pandemic of COVID-19 has forced media art centres and festivals to rethink established art mediation formats in the physical space and use the online environment massively. This situation created several new, hybrid communication formats that have not yet been critically debated. How have the proven curatorial principles and methods of organizing art festivals applied in the pre-COVID-19 pandemic changed in response to COVID and the post-COVID situation, respectively? The symposium aims to provide a space for a critical debate on the transformations that domestic and international art festivals and media centres have undergone and are undergoing in response to radically changed conditions for the organization of social events. The presentations of the guests representing some key European festivals and media art centres will be devoted to evaluating various strategies of mediating art and culture, which selected art institutions used, rejected or transformed and discovered in this special regime. |
