Description In this paper, the different strategies of depicting John of Nepomuk in oratorios will be presented on the basis of nine uniquely preserved librettos by the Vienna Carmelites from 1744-1765, which are now part of the collection of libretto prints preserved in the Klosterneuburg monastery. Also presented will be musical material from the Oratorio Sancti Joannis Nepomuceni, composed in the 1760s by Anton Neumann (1721-1776), a now rediscovered composer who worked mainly in Moravia and whose works have been preserved in numerous archives in Central Europe - especially in the Upper Austrian Benedictine Abbey of Lambach.
