Description In post-war Czechoslovakia, tens of thousands of foreign workers worked, mainly from Romania, Bulgaria, and Poland, but also from Italy. At the beginning of the 1950s, the hiring of workers from abroad was temporarily terminated. The presence of Gastarbeiter in Czechoslovakia had its specifics after the war. These were mostly short-term stays, which did not become the basis for a more permanent mass influx of immigrants, as was the case in Western countries.
