Description | This paper presents Pavel Haas’s notes from Leoš Janáček’s master class lectures, which Haas attended between 1920 and 1922. After briefly summarizing the content of the lectures in both years, it focuses more deeply on pivotal topics, namely motives, complex reactions, consciousness, phonetics, compositional process and principles. This source may illuminate Janáček’s theoretical thinking and pedagogical orientation at the time and also suggest possible influences on Haas’s artistic development. |
