Description | Luciano Floridi draws attention to the fact that a closely interconnected, technical, complex world requires the presence of completely different epistemic approaches than those that may have seemed adequate twenty years ago. Life in what we speak of as zettabytes means that we have an unprecedented surplus of data, dynamically growing, interconnecting, using, aggregating, often at the technical level. What we know are tiny patterns, pieces of an extremely complex world. And it is the choice of these patterns, patterns (and manipulation with them) that depends on the extent to which our knowledge will be adequate and will lead to good behavior or not. |
