Description "Art is above all a state of the soul," said Marc Chagall. The effort to understand the fine arts through psychology has a tradition that can be traced mainly in two lines - the psychoanalytic tradition (Freud, Jung), which argues that understanding images lies in finding the unconsciously sublimated content of the creator; and in the tradition of shape psychology (Arnheim), which, in turn, examines the laws of perception that lead the viewer to the meaning and understanding of a work of art. The aim of the lecture is to present the basic ways of interpretation of fine arts in the intentions of psychological theories on the basis of these two interpretive apparatuses.
