Description The intensity of Russian-Czech linguistic contacts has changed in different periods of history according to the actual needs and interests of both nations. The result of these contacts was, of course, the adoption of words and word-formation, semantic and syntactic calculations. The so-called rusisms, i.e. words of Russian origin that were adopted into Czech, deserve attention. As the language is constantly evolving and changing, some of these Russicisms have been fully adapted and others are still perceived as foreign. This article deals with a brief history of Russian-Czech language contacts, maps the occurrence of Russicisms in Czech, and includes a frequency analysis of selected Russicisms based on CNC data.
