Description The paper deals with the novel Dimitrij (1849) by the now almost forgotten Czech writer Prokop Chocholoušek (1819-1864). As a writer, Chocholoušek often focused on the history of Slavic nations, and he chose a chapter of Russian history from the early 17th century, often portrayed in European literature at the time, as the subject for this novel. The paper examines the influence of Pushkin's drama Boris Godunov as well as the presence of Chocholoušek's own views in the work and the role of the novel in the context of Pseudo-Demetrius works in Bohemia.
