Description The book of poems On the Contrary (Naopak, 1982) by Miroslav Holub is mainly philosophically and existentially focused on a life of a human in modern world. Using Greek myths (particularly the myth of Minotaur) it thematizes problems of identity, self-identification and (im)possible freedom of choice. The study aims to describe these reflections and to interpretively demonstrate variety of their applications to the theme of 1) existential conflict of individual and/or society and 2) loss of meaning in life and basic cognitive functions.
