Description The chapter deals with the art collection of Alexandr Skalický st., built as a part of a specific private living culture during the state socialism decades in Czechoslovakia. The collector's rich archive, correspondence with contemporary modern artists on acquisited artefacts, as well as documented oral history enable us to reconstruct and analyze the motivations and circumstances of the collecting culture behind the Iron Curtain with unprecedented depth.
