| Description | Since 2018, new archaeological excavations in Orava region (north-western Slovakia) have been carried out by the Orava Museum. In addition to the known hillforts (Nižná-Ostražica, Podbiel-Biela skala), new settlements in the background of the hillforts were researched. Recently completely new archaeological sites from this period were discovered (Sedliacka Dubová-Háj). The presentation summarizes the results of above mentioned researches and the current state of knowledge about hilltop settlement in Orava region in the Hallstatt and Early La Tene period. The results are compared with hilltop settlement structures in the territory of NW Slovakia. |
