| Description | Frank Wollman’s study The Spirit and the Integrity of Slavonic literatures: a Mere Retro, or a Live Conception? The present contribution analyzes Wollman’s study going back to 1948 summarizing the result of his research expressed in The Literatures of the Slavs (1928) and On the Methodology of Comparative Slavonic Literatures (1936) also demonstrating the future prospect which was then deepened in his last book Slavisms and Antislavisms in the Spring of Nations (1968). He manifests, above all, the position of Slavonic literatures between the East and the West corresponding to the Latin and Old Church Slavonic influence in the process of Christianization showing the unity based on the Mediterranean cradle of European civilization. |
