Description | The presented paper aims to introduce the analysis of the ways of personification of cities within the book series Městské války of Pavel Renčín. There will be described an appearance (look) and functioning of the avatars of individual cities, such as Prague, Brno or Ostrava. The principles of the "embodiment" within the framework of the Městské války will be clarified as well as the relationship between personified beings in their geographical delimitation in the space of the fictional world will be characterized. This explains the strategies used in creating their appearance based on the attributes of the cities of the actual world within the structure of the fictional world environment of Městské války based on the author's communication with the fandom. The work of Ben Aaronovich will serve as reference texts due to its greater scope within the translated literature and similar personalization methods. These methods will be compared with the strategies used by Pavel Renčín. The conclusion of the paper will be devoted to thoughts regarding why these methods are attractive to readers and it will outline other possible ways to explore them. |
