Description | Historical material from the Time of Troubles period depicting the events of the rise of the later tsar now known as Pseudo-Demetrius I. became popular among writers in the 19th century, especially in Russia and Germany. The most influential dramas about Pseudo-Demetrius I. can be considered to be a fragment of Friedrich Schiller's play Demetrius (1805) and Pushkin's drama Boris Godunov (1825). However, the theme also appeared in other countries, and, thanks to German influence, it penetrated into our country as well. The aim of this paper will be to briefly present selected Czech Pseudo-Demetrius works written in the 19th century in the context of Schiller-Pushkin influences, with a focus on Pushkin's trace in them. Specifically, the novel Dimitrij by Prokop Chocholoušek, the drama Dimitr Ivanovič by Ferdinand Břetislav Mikovec and the libretto for the opera Dimitrij by Marie Červinková-Riegrová will be presented. |
