Description | The collections of speech models (dicerie) in vernacular, for the most part still unpublished, constitute an interesting example of reuse of pre-existing textual material: vernacular translations from Latin or adaptations from previous collections already in vernacular, often present an active tradition as required by their status of practical texts, and testify to the vitality of the new municipal civilisation to which these examples of civil and political topics are addressed. A case apart are the fictitious models of historical discourses, which can mistakenly flow into multi-text manuscripts of historical subject as if they were authentic speeches. Given the frequent recycling and their textual mobility, both as regards the individual texts and as regards the collections, great caution is required in identifying the chronotope of origin. In the talk, after a theoretical introduction, some examples of unpublished or little studied collections will be seen, which will be analysed in relation to the sources and the new context in which they aggregate and are transmitted (dicerie added to the Fiore di virtu, historical dicerie added to the Fiore di rettorica, Venetian dicerie preserved in St. Petersburg), with particular attention to the phenomena of stratification and reuse. |
