Description The core choreography production of professor Štefan Nosáľ (1927 – 2017) for Slovak National Folklore Ballet Lúčnica came into existence between years 1950 (first choreography Zbojnícky tanec created in collaboration with Ondrej Zelník) and 1995 (last choreography Olaská). During this time prof. Nosáľ created a vast repertoire of choreography compositions based on traditional folk renderings of our ancestors. He became acquainted with these renderings while visiting many Slovak locations either by himself or with his lifelong colleague and friend Dr. Stanislav Dúžek. This conference paper summarizes the creation of selected choreographies, speculates about cultural contribution of staged Slovak folklore and presents an idea of prof. Štefan Nosáľ as a preservationist of vanishing authentic Slovak folklore.
