Description Museums are, in principle, primarily visual institutions; they work predominantly with the material collections and their communication to the public in a visual way. This with regard to the blind poses undeniable challenges and requires a complete change in the museum’s philosophy of for whom sight is a weakened or absent sense in cognition and learning. In the methodology we focus on the blind because they usually require a completely different approach and support conditions for accessibility than all other groups of visually impaired visitors. The methodology summarizes basic information and provides practical tips for working with blind visitors in the museum. You will learn how to make the museum more accessible and remove physical barriers, you will understand how the blind person perceives and learns and you will get impulses for their own educational work with blind visitors in the museum.
