| Description | The social transformation after 1989 affected all the sectors of literature. It is no different in Czech fantastic fiction. There were many new publishing houses based on the previous sci-fi clubs, in June 1990 first issue of a professional sci-fi magazine Ikarie is brought out, original Czech writing can finally get inspired by western influences… and surprisingly it loses its distinctive character and starts to copy patterns from the West. How did Czech fantastic fiction after 1989 transform? What topics did it choose? Many questions stay unanswered, we will try to respond to some of them. |
