Description The article dedicated to František Myslivec (1873–1934) summarizes the basic stages of the personal and professional life of this Catholic priest, teacher and amateur ethnographer. In addition to the presentation of his life's journey, which began in Dolní Lhota and ended in Opava, two selected periods from his youth are presented in separate excursions. In the first excursion, Myslivc's studies at the Czech grammar school in Opava are presented, and in the second, his work as a catechist in Moravian schools. The second part of the contribution is focused on Myslivac's ethnographic activity, on the documentation of the Silesian countryside. Myslivac's efforts in the field of ethnography and, in particular, culture and society were completed by the establishment of the Opava branch of the Czechoslovak Agricultural Museum in the 1920s.
