Description Sirens have been a symbol of a threatening form of femininity in film since its beginnings. While in early films they represent dangerous seduction in a metaphorical sense in connection with the femme fatale and the vamp, in horror films they become literal female monsters with reference to Carol Clover and Barbara Creed. Using exemplary examples from the last decade (Mamula, SiREN and Córki Dancingu), this article shows how the mythological figure of the siren lives on in modern horror films and challenges social orders there - at least for the length of a feature film.
