Citation
Description The presentation focuses on Burchard of Worms' work "Corrector sive medicus". In this set of moral and legal guidelines for the clergy, numerous "pagan practices" and beliefs are listed, including beliefs in ghots, undead, or the art of erotic magic, serving as one of the most well preserved documentations of the survival of paganism in the heart of the supposedly Christianised Europe. According to Buchard of Worms, exposing these superstitions and the penances imposed should enlighten the ecclesiastical vision and strategy developed to face them.
