Description The lecture will introduce several directions of adaptation studies. The study of adaptation allows, among other things, to name intertextual and intermedial relations and to grasp the movement of meaning that occurs when a work is transposed into another medium and culture. In writing adaptation or intermedia histories of literature and culture, we can note, among other things, how adapters have used different forms of media to bring the literature of an earlier period to an audience. Such an approach to adaptations allows us to examine how they are connected to contemporary culture. And further: how they model an understanding of the situation of man, culture, and society.
