Description | The chapter deals with the Mren Cathedral, built in 638 during the reign of Emperor Heraclius. Today it is located in Turkey, in the Kars province. Mren Cathedral, a mirror of the political and religious situation on the eastern frontier of the Roman Empire in the first half of the 7th century, is today the largest surviving Armenian domed basilica and preserves fragments of wall paintings and relief decorations of extraordinary quality. |
