Description In 1884, the abbot Mendel died and his passing away as such a significant period, full of artistic and scientific events, closed. Musical requiem of Mendel´s funeral was conducted by thirty-years-old Leoš Janáček who had been educating at the monastery under the tutoring of Pavel Křížkovský. Previously, as a poor and talented boy, Křížkovský had accomplished his musical education due to Janáček´s father. Mendel was elected – also by Klácel, inter alia – the abbot after death of excellent Cyril Napp. Just Klácel then handed the monastery garden over Mendel – and his famous experiments with peas and hieracium could proceed there. In short and literally, Brno celebrities could met at one corridor each other at that time. Generally surveyed, while Mendel´s natural research became of the symbol of the monastery, his other brethren were busy rather with humanistic arts or art as such. The goal of the exhibition is to remind, in a humble way, some scientific and artistic results of all of them.
