Description The way of testing language competence changed significantly during the distance learning period. At Masaryk University, Latin medical terminology is taught as a Language for Specific Purposes (LSP). As the course focuses primarily on essential Latin grammar and Greek and Latin vocabulary the transition to the online testing did not initially seem like a difficult task, however the question of how to ensure test validity and authenticity soon emerged. Our paper summarizes the methods applied by the Language Centre teachers at the Faculty of Medicine to address this challenge and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of online testing.
