Description | Wine has been part of European history and culture since time immemorial. It has always been a part of life, not only for the social elites. It connects the history of the traditional agrarian societies of the Middle Ages and early modern times with modernity. The cultivation of wine has decisively influenced social and cultural structures as well as demographic and anthropological conditions, and has contributed considerably to the mutual relations of ethnic groups and nations in Central Europe (including Germans, Austrians, Liechtensteiners and Czechs). The conference "In vino cultura" will deal with the history of wine in Central Europe using socio-historical and anthropological methods. The Czech-Slovak-German, Czech-Liechtenstein and Czech-Austrian Commissions of Historians will participate in the event. It will thus cover a geographical region of southern Moravia, Lower Austria and south-western Slovakia; in addition, a broad "pan-European" scope is also expected, especially the Liechtenstein-German Rhine region. During this conference, 16 papers (of about 25 minutes each followed by a discussion) are expected; an evening public lecture is also planned. The conference language is German, possibly English, the public lecture will be translated into Czech Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version) |
